If you read my blog you probably know I adore Maxwell's music so I am treating myself to a ticket to see Maxwell in concert.

[Yeah! I have never seen Maxwell in concert despite all that I write about his voice. I've been following his career since 1996 like most of his fans. The man is gifted!! I adore his art but I am NOT trying to get with him. I am making that extra L-O-U-D and clear for I respect his art! I adore not only Maxwell's voice but a variety of voices such as Prince, Michael Jackson, Babyface, Opera singer Measha Brueggergosman, Kathleen Battle, Jessye Norman, Amel Larrieux, Billie Holiday, Sade, Barry White, Smokey Robinson, Seal, George Michael, Souleymane Diamanka (my list is continuous so I am giving you a picture of my musical appreciation for VOICES!!]

I have NO clue when Maxwell's new album is debuting but I am excited to experience Maxwell live because his MTV Unplugged album is my absolute favorite. My favorite song by Maxwell is Softly, Softly which he performed with Sweetback. If you read the bio for Sweetback that is the band that backs Sade. Sweetback's member Stuart Matthewman is another artist that I adore for his musical compositions and work with Maxwell, Sade and even my other favorite, Amel Larrieux. I have all of Matthewman's albums which I have been playing out continuously.

Rep. Stephanie Tubb Jones is resting in heaven now..

Today has been one of the most emotional days for me on twitter.

I read a beautiful obituary (click on the link in her twit) from Professor Kim that Rep. Stephanie Tubb Jones (Ohio) [first African American to represent the state of Ohio in the US Congress] had passed but then news reports broke that she was still alive (thanks @newmediajim here) so I had hope that Rep. Tubb Jones may pull through although the reports on her health were not encouraging.

This afternoon I went into meditation praying for her and thought of that chance meeting of seeing her at Filene's basement here in Washington, DC 3 months ago. She had a bright smile and was looking casually relaxed as she was in the shoe section with me perusing through the rows of shoes. Though we never exchanged words we did smile and giggle at each other for she knew that I knew who she was for I had seen her a few times while I worked on Capitol Hill 3 years ago for a US Senator.

Though the reports were all grim today I had hope that Rep. Stephanie Tubb Jones would hold on but God needed her desperately for her to be in his home now.

Rep. Tubb Jones will be missed and her family, friends, co-workers and the state of Ohio are all in my prayers.

Like most I am shocked and hurting, I know God will calm our souls. Just know her spirit is here. She is never gone for I always remember her smiling rosy cheeks reminding all of us that everything will be okay!

Sending my deepest condolences to her son, Mervyn Jones II and family.

My knowledge of Mr. Jack C. Landau came from his writing. I was familiar with some of his work from his founding of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press.

My prayers go out to his family, friends and his colleagues. Mr. Landau leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire generations. When I think of first amendment rights, I immediately think of Landau.

For those who are unaware of why I blog I have to give all credit to Shavar Ross for him encouraging me.

When I first found his blog and flickr stream, I was commenting so much, Shavar said, "Jennifer, you should blog" then the birth of all my blogs began. I continue to read and learn a lot from Shavar's blog for I feel like he is a big brother with him sharing lots of wonderful advice on life.

I introduced Shavar to twitter & last.fm and Shavar introduced me to imeem.com so we both tend to share and learn about new web technologies that are introduced to us.

Now, I am so happy to see that he has a new website to help those who are interested in acting.

I read the article and was thoroughly impressed because this has been a theme I have been discussing on and off throughout my blogs [more so on biracial relationships and not the act of sex]. Further, I am honored that Ms. Hines aka Funkybrownchick shared with me via twitter that she reads this blog through my tumblr account! 8) [I am cheese grinning. Ms. Funkybrownchick has a reader in me too! I actually started reading her about 2 months ago so now you know the truth! He he!]

For me understanding interracial relationships is personal for my maternal grandfather was mixed so I have heard, seen and know a lot about this situation with it being in my family. I do not know everything about interracial relationships or interracial sex but knowing about my grandfather's situation was the catalyst of my mother's activism which she instilled in me. My grandfather refused to be known as white on his driver's license for he demanded the DMV to list him as Colored. He was very fair with a British accent. No one could understand his background but he was Jamaican and British. White people said my grandfather should identify as white but my grandfather said he was black!!

In addition to my grandfather's biracial ancestry, I have other members of my family who are mixed or who have married outside their race. I am proud that my family comes in a variety of cultures and we all appreciate our rich African ancestry especially understanding all that was fought for the rights of African Americans to be seen as equal in the USA and in the world.

I am proud to be an African American. I grew up in this country and have tried to share my rich cultural experiences in a variety of ways although some people have given me grief over sharing the history of African Americans. I hope people some people continue to be receptive to learning and being open in sharing. That is the beginning of opening a dialogue with others on our differences.

Muxtape, the love-child of the Internet and 80s cassette mix tapes, has had its plug pulled by the RIAA. Currently, visitors to the site are greeted with a brief statement that Muxtape will be "unavailable for a brief period while we sort out a problem with the RIAA."
